In
1988 I went on holiday to France with my wife Dorothy and two
sons Paul and David. We stayed in a gite in central Brittany.
This was my first experience of France and we all had a great
time in spite of my very limited knowledge of French (even now
it isn’t much better).
Some time after the holiday, we were talking about what we had
done and it became apparent that we had forgotten a lot of the
holiday details. So I then decided that if we went on holiday
again I would keep a diary and this is what I have done on every
holiday starting from 1989.
For many years we went to France, mainly in Brittany and the Vendee,
but over the last few years we have visited New Zealand, Canada
and China with many more holidays planned.
I have reproduced the diaries as I wrote them at the time, with
the exception of correcting spelling and maybe clarifying sentences
where necessary. Where I have made additional comments they are
in bold type.
At the
moment the pages are rather plain but I will improve on that later
and I will also add some pictures when I can find them.
I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences on holiday. Maurice Turner
